Come celebrate the life and legacy of Joe Geer, faithful Christian, father, grandfather, and friend of Faith Baptist Church.

Joe L. Geer – Jackson, MI, formerly of Grass Lake Age 90, went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2019, at Legacy Assisted Living in Jackson. He was born October 15, 1928, in Chelsea, MI, the son of William & Alura (Foster) Geer. Joe graduated from Chelsea High School in 1947, then served in the US Army in Germany from 1950 to 1952. He worked at Federal Screw in the early 1950s, where he met Gladys. Joseph retired from Chrysler Proving Grounds, where he worked most of the time in the Brake Lab.

Joe was a former member of North Sharon Baptist Church and was currently a member of Faith Baptist. He served as the mechanic at church to keep the buses running. Joe enjoyed working at home, woodworking, and gardening. His garden fed a lot of family and neighbors. Joseph began the Faith Baptist Church Bible studies at Legacy Assisted Living. He also loved helping the kitchen staff at Legacy.

On November 3, 1953, he married Gladys Herman, in North Sharon Baptist Church, she preceded him in death on July 1, 2012. Survivors include two sons, Bruce (Linda) Geer of Jackson, Larry (Renee) Geer of Jackson; three daughters, Karen (Douglas) Lembrick of Clinton, Julie (Douglas) North of Jackson, and Cathy (Jay) Ross of Israel; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, David (Penny) Geer, Jim (Mary) Geer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2, 10-11:00 am at Faith Baptist Church, Chelsea, with Pastor Adam Summers officiating.

Burial will be at Sharon Township Cemetery in Manchester. The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Chapel Friday from 4-7:00 pm.
